Goodwill Ambassador

Goodwill Ambassador was purchased by Bongo Racing as a colt in the sale two years ago. As Bongo's horse buyers says, " I like the way he walks." Goodwill, now a four-year-old, has spent a good portion of his career in injury and rehab. In tribute to his strength he has come out of each injury stronger.

Hopes were never higher than last spring when he won his maiden race at golden Gate. It was a terrific run with Goodwill coming out of a crowd and winning by a head. The thrill was short lived as not more than two weeks later he came down with a bowed tendon - an injury that can, and usually does, mean the end of a racing career. Goodwill is now on the was back. With the help of stem cell injections and hours of care.

The Derby and Brother Derek

Although my Derby favorite is Brother Derek I will be happy with nearly any entry's victory. Why? I love long shots and each Derby horse is in fact a long shot. I love dreamers and every owner, jockey and trainer is a dreamer. Keep in mind that most of these horse are purchased as colts, sometimes sold as yearlings and at each sale it was due to a dream that they could get to the Derby. Lots say that they don't consider that goal in their daily routines as horseman, don't believe it. It is a clique, but it is true, all roads lead to the Derby.

In my horse purchases I always keep the picture that I will see them crossing the finish line first at Churchill Downs. It's like the picture of seeing your child get a gold medal or a perfect S.A.T.

irresistible. I've got to go now. I've got some daydreaming to do.
